Training and Book Launch Event: Chronic Illness & Eating Disorders - Hosted by Rock Recovery - Arlington VA

Join us to celebrate the launch of the new book, "Chronic Illness and Eating Disorders: Assessment, Clinical Skills and Lived Experiences"!

How does an individual recover from an eating disorder and trust of the body, in a body that is differently abled? Many develop an eating disorder as a result of body image disturbance and being in a body that “doesn’t work the way it is supposed to”. Chronic medical conditions and trauma associated with complex surgeries can lead to PTSD and other psychiatric co-morbidities. It is important that clinicians be able to identify trauma and body image disturbances as a result of medical conditions.

Come learn, enjoy networking and light bites, and get your book signed by author, Tamie Gangloff, as we learn more about how chronic illness and eating disorders are intertwined.

Title: Chronic Medical Conditions, Body Image, Eating Disorders, and Resilience

Presentation Description: How do we recover from an eating disorder and trust our body, in a body that is differently abled? Many develop an eating disorder as a result of body image disturbance and being in a body that “doesn’t work the way it is supposed to”. Chronic medical conditions and trauma associated with complex surgeries can lead to PTSD and other psychiatric co-morbidities. It is important that clinicians be able to identify trauma and body image disturbances as a result of medical conditions. We can then assess, and properly treat, clients with these complex issues leading to resilience and recovery.
