About This Training
Chronic illness and pain often unfold beneath the surface, affecting identity, relationships, functioning, body trust, and emotional well-being. This presentation explores the intersection of chronic illness, pain, and mental health, helping participants distinguish expected emotional responses to illness from symptoms of co-occurring mental health concerns.
Moving beyond the idea that resilience means simply “pushing through,” participants will explore resilience as an evolving process that can include grief, rest, adaptation, self-advocacy, boundaries, connection, and redefining expectations. Through case examples and practical, trauma-informed strategies, participants will gain tools to support autonomy, body trust, self-advocacy, and meaningful adaptation.
